The Dayafter

Happy Thanksgiving!!! Yes Yes I know it a day late and as Christopher says "and a dollar short." How was yesterday everyone has been asking me. Well Let me tell you!!! CRANBERRY is a NO GO!!!! I started off with Turkey (3oz) 1/4 cup of mash potatoes (no gravy), Sweet potatoes, Green bean casserole, and a fruit salad. It took me about an hour to eat. What made yesterday ( be side me) was all my friends ( Abby) and family Christopher, Tammy, Alena, Sydney and Grandpa Will. I had my baby Plate with me ( OK it was really Christopher's, but it is mine now), and my Little fork and my measuring cup, ( 1/4 cup). I made some home made rolls( 5 dz) that did not stay long. Well today I my breakfast shake, I cup of egg drop soup, ( while I was in Seattle ) and left overs when I got home. This is when I had the CRANBERRY!!!! WAY WAY to sweet. It did not seat well and I had my first dumping sensation. It was not fun. Stomach hurt and did not feel good. I thought I would have an issued with the fruit salad but no, just the cranberry. Here is a picture of me and the gang.

Nov 22

Well Thanksgiving is just around a corner, and this will be the biggest test of all. This time of year is going to be real hard. This will be the first time that Ashley and Christopher will not be here. Not hearing their voices in the morning, the laughter and the yelling watching the parade, and making my home made rolls with Christopher. Still working on grieving stage after the divorce, some time I feel that it is getting better and then other times I feel anger and asking why me. But lately that has been farther apart then in the past. I can say that the hurt is stil there but not as bad. I havew been told that time heals all things, well that is one thing that I have more of after the surgery. I have more time to be with the ones I love, and I hope that someday I will be able to sit down and talk about things and not get angery or up set.
I am looking forward to Thursday, but at the same time a little scared. You see, to me this is a test of will power. I have lost 50 pounds since Oct 5 and I am fitting into cloths that I have not worn in a long time. I have see people who have had this surgery and failed. I do not want to go down that path. So I have a 1/4 measuring cup and a kitchen timer. Have to remember that I need to drink 30 minutes before I eat and I have to wait 30 minutes after. so if it takes me 45 minutes to eat then that means 1 hour and 45 minutes with out drinking. WOW!!!!! THAT IS A LONG TIME!
Well that is all for now Will give you an update on Friday.

7 weeks

Will, It has been 37 days since I had my surgery. and this past week I tried to eat some real food. I learned that I am not ready for rice or pasta. I fix the other night chicken and rice. I had about a 1/4 of rice and 3oz of chicken. Rice went down and it came right back up. Then I made a pasta salad and again, that did not stay down. So I will wait a while to try them again. I have talk to a lot a people that have had or know someone who has had the surgery, and lot of them are still unable to eat certain foods like rice, pasta, and bread. So far I can eat bread /toast. There are time where I feel bloated after I eat. I think the hard part is that I must learn to eat 5 SMALL MEALS times a day, or three small meals and a couple of protein shacks. I am getting in about 64 oz of water a day. I am starting to have lots more energy and I am sleeping all night. Something I have not done in years. (sip sip) I am walking about an hour a day either in the morning or afternoon. People are saying that they can tell that I am losing the weight. To me I am still FAT, but working on it. I know that I am harder on me that others, but they must understand that I see my self and 24/7 and I just hate the way I look. Thanksgiving is coming up and I am fixing the works, Turkey, stuffing, Mash potatoes , gravy, and cranberry sauce. Got a friend bring a green bean casserole, and a apple pie. I know that I will not be able to eat a whole lot, but a 1/4 cup and a 1/4 cup there, plus a timer set for 45 minutes. I can do it. (sip sip). I will up date you on Thursday. OHHHHH BTW. I step on the scale today 253!!! not bad for on 7 weeks out. Until Thanksgiving. Remember to drink your water and get your protein in

5th week

While it has been 5 week since I had the surgery and I was given the go a head to eat real food. Had my first slice of pizza the other day. It took me about 45 minutes to eat it. Boy it was SOOOOOO GOOOOOD!! Have to keep a log of foods that do settle in my stomach. So far Rice and corn bother me. Still doing lots of soaps, and protean shacks, and blended foods. This week I slowly eat a sloppy joe and three fries, for dinner last night. This morning I walk for about an hour and had a 1/2 cup of grits and one poached egg for breakfast. So for I have not had the dumping issues but I also have not had chocolate, or coffee. I have had a Tall Soy Chi latte no water no foam, and it has stayed down. It is hard to get the protean in plus the water with out the 2400mg of sodium. a day. Sip Sip.
Went to the doctor yeasterday and had blood work done. weight was still at 265. THey said that it was normal. My body is getting use of not having the food in take like it use too, so in a couple of weeks I will have another weight loss burst. Pictures soon, Remember to drink water and get your protean in.

What a weekend

To start with, I never thought the eating regular food would be so hard. Boy was I wrong!! This past week I started eating foods that I love, ( in very small amounts mind you), and I got very sick. The first time was I fixed Stir fried rice with chicken, (1/2 cup) and the other was chicken (2 oz) , 1/4 cup of corn , and 4 pieces of boil potato, and both times they did not stay down. I got to believe that it is not the chicken but the starches, I know that I did not eat too fast, so that was ruled out. This weekend I got a TALL Soy Chi latte with no water and it took my almost 2 hours to drink it and I still did not finish it. Had a bowl of Egg soup while I was in Seattle yesterday and I had tuna fish( 1/2 cup) and apple sauce (1/2 cup) for dinner. The hard part of walking down town Seattle was passing my favorite places to snack, like the Mac and Cheese place and the french bakery it Pikes Place Market.
I am still eating cottage cheese( getting to point where I can tolerate it) with fruit, and eating lots of soup. I was looking and these pre made dinners, high in protein but higher in SODIUM. Need to found something good and easy fix with high protein and LOW SODIUM.
Until next time remember SIP SIP!!

What a week.

Will it has been a good. I went to the doctor on Tuesday, and I weight in at 270.65 down around 30 pounds. (My scale at home say 40 pounds). So I have to go with what to doctor said I lost. I feel really good. I need to in prove my exercise. Because I can start adding REAL FOOD to my diet. Last night I had Alaska Cod and 1/2 cup of sweet potato. Still have not had any coffee since the 4th of OCT. do not know when I will start drinking it. A little scare because I have heard so many people could not drink it after the surgery. I will put more pictures on here this weekend so you can see the difference. ( I hope you can because I can not).
